I would like to thank the extraordinary Banda Sinfonica Municipal Madrid under the baton of Rafael Sanz-Espert for their breathtaking performance of `Samurai’ in the Sala Sinfónica Auditorio Nacional de Música. They are one of the great professional civilian wind orchestras of the world and they have a conductor to match! The standard was of the highest possible level – the concert was performed to an enthusiastic thousand plus audience. The concert was a wonderful blend of the exotic, with Spanish composers (Jesus Gurida and Kepa Junkera) in the first half and Martin Ellerby and myself representing Britain in the second half. A big, big thank you to Rafael Sanz-Espert, Natalia Montañés and the musicians of the Banda Sinfonica Municipal Madrid!!!
