Nigel to become Honorary Patron to Eynsford Concert Band

Press Release from Eynsford Concert Band

After 2 years of association with the band and the recent dedication of `Heritage Suite’ to John Hutchins and the band, we are delighted that Nigel has agreed to be an Honorary Patron of Eynsford Concert Band.  We are thrilled to formally recognise the continued support, vision and guidance that Nigel provides to us and we look forward to working with him extensively over the coming years.

Response:

“I am very proud to be asked to be Honorary Patron to this wonderful musical organisation. Without doubt they are one of the best community wind orchestras in the country. I am very much looking forward to supporting (the Kent based) Eynsford Concert Band in all its future music projects. Today, more than any other time in recent years, community music making is crucial to sustaining the musical fabric of Britain. Nigel Clarke 03/05/11

About Eynsford Concert Band

(from their Website)

EYNSFORD CONCERT BAND is a symphonic wind ensemble that has been based in the small Kentish village of Eynsford since 1972. The band tours overseas regularly, and aspires to attain the highest standards of musicianship within a social and friendly environment.  Attracting players from all over the South East of England, the band nonetheless retains a core of long-standing members.  The band is firmly rooted in its community and every year raises substantial amounts for local charities.  Since 2004, we have raised nearly £30,000, and in 2011 we are supporting Coram, the UK’s first-ever Children’s charity.

The band is a Registered Charity (No. 277086) itself, investing any revenue from performances back into the band, to fund the purchase of music, hire of the rehearsal or performance venues and obtaining instruments for those members who cannot afford to buy them.  It is only through the voluntary efforts of its members that the band survives.

We enjoy touring and in the past have visited Austria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ireland, Netherlands, Malta, Spain, the Fjords of Norway and most recently, Belgium and a cruise of the Mediterranean.
